IT'S A PAINFUL irony that the boys who attended the 1904 premiere of Peter Pan, JM Barrie’s fantasy of eternal childhood, were the young men who, 10 years later, fought in the flanders trenches, where to die was decidedly not “an awfully big adventure”.
