THE DIG retold the wondrous story of the Sutton Hoo treasures and how they were discovered by a plucky band of excavators. However, one of the biggest finds wasn't featured in the film: the iconic Sutton Hoo helmet, and there is an accurate reason the why helmet wasn't revealed, and it all comes down to World War II.
