STEPHEN Hawking’s view that the universe started with a huge Big Bang has been disproved by a team of mathematicians. Hawking’s view of the universe relies on the concept of ‘singularities’ – where conditions are so extreme that the laws of physics simply break down, making any meaningful scientific observations or science impossible.
